The QNTM model portfolio returned +1.34% today, nearly 50bps ahead of SPY's +0.85%. Both benchmark and model finished well into positive territory even though QNTM's regime overlay flagged RISK_OFF conditions (broad tariffs, war escalation) — a reminder that the macro-risk read and same-day price action can diverge.

What drove it: The outperformance tracked back to the model's tilt toward AI/semiconductor names, the session's clear leadership group. Stocks gained momentum Tuesday as investors braced for tech earnings amid signs of a chip-stock revival, with fresh US tariffs on Canada and Middle East hostilities also in focus. A standout mover was Nebius, which jumped 18.78% after Nvidia disclosed a stake in the company , part of a broader semis rebound that lifted the model's tech book more than the SPY-wide average. Energy-adjacent and tariff-exposed positions were the drag, as the Trump administration moved to impose a fresh 50% tariff on some Canadian goods over alcohol, auto and dairy trade issues .

Market recap: The S&P 500 rose 0.89%, the Dow gained 0.74%, the Nasdaq climbed 1.29%, and the VIX fell to 16.89 . Oil stayed elevated — crude rose above $83/barrel as the US carried out a 10th consecutive day of strikes on Iran, which responded with strikes on Kuwait , even as ceasefire talk circulated.

What's next: Megacap earnings begin Wednesday with Tesla and Alphabet — a key test for whether AI spending can justify current valuations.
